The GrowQuest Guide
A plain-English tour of how the game works: quests, XP, Growies, boss fights, and everything in between. Families on the free plan get most of this; Premium unlocks the rest.
How GrowQuest works
Parents create quests β everyday tasks like homework, tidying up, or music practice. Children complete quests on their dashboard and submit them for review. Parents approve, and the child earns XP (experience points) plus gold they can spend in a reward store the parents control.
Behind the quest loop sits a whole RPG system: Growies (pets you hatch from eggs), family boss fights, character classes with passive bonuses and active abilities, daily streaks, and a behavior/trust system that rewards consistency.
Quests & XP
Each quest has a difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard) that sets its baseline XP and gold reward. Parents can also mark a quest as one-time, daily, or weekly.
XP earned on a quest can be boosted or reduced by the child's current daily behavior state and by their chosen character class. The exact multipliers are shown in the parent rulebook inside the app.
Behavior & daily state
Parents can log positive behaviors (helping a sibling, being kind) or negative ones (refusing chores, being disrespectful). These logs roll up into a daily state: a green day adds an XP bonus, a yellow day is neutral, and a red day reduces XP. A pattern of positive behavior also raises the child's trust level, which affects the reward store.
Daily streaks
Completing at least one approved quest each day keeps a streak alive. Hitting certain streak milestones awards bonus XP and gold. Miss a day and the streak resets β unless a Guardian has saved it with their Shield Wall ability.
Growies
Growies are collectible creatures tied to the app's task categories β nine species in all, with a handful reserved for Premium families. Children earn eggs by completing quests. An egg can be hatched immediately or painted with a potion first, which changes the Growy's look.
Growies level up by fighting bosses alongside your family. At higher levels, a Growy can evolve into a more powerful form β provided you also have a Grow Stone to trigger the evolution. Grow Stones drop from harder boss fights and can also be purchased with gold.
Boss Quests
Boss Quests are family co-op fights that run for a week. Parents summon a boss from their dashboard, and every approved task grants the child a battle turn they can spend on the Boss page. Children pick an attack move β from a basic strike to a devastating fury burst β and chip away at the boss's HP.
Bosses come in four difficulty tiers. Harder bosses hit back with more HP but drop better rewards: gold for every child, a chance of bonus eggs, and Grow Stones for evolving Growies.
Premium feature
Only the easiest boss tier is available on the free plan. Premium families unlock the three harder tiers, plus mana-based support actions during combat.Character Classes
Once a child reaches a certain level, they can choose one of four classes: Guardian, Scholar, Explorer, or Creator. Each class has a passive bonus that applies automatically to every approved quest.
Premium families also unlock a once-per-day active ability per class β a Scholar can double XP on a single quest, an Explorer can guarantee an egg drop, and so on. Classes can be changed, but only after a cooldown period, so the choice matters.
Reward Store
Parents build a reward store using their own rewards, a catalog of templates, or both β screen time, treats, privileges, small toys, family outings. Children spend the gold they've earned from quests to request rewards; parents then approve or deny each purchase.
A child's trust level also affects the store: repeated serious behavior issues can temporarily restrict or lock the store entirely until things settle down.
Frequently asked
- What ages is GrowQuest for?
- Roughly 4 to 14. Younger kids love the pixel-art trainers and Growies; older kids engage with the class system, boss fights, and progression.
- Do I need to manage everything every day?
- No. Recurring quests handle most routines automatically. Parents typically spend a few minutes a day approving completed quests and occasionally logging behavior. The Monday weekly digest on Premium recaps everything.
- Can both parents manage the same family?
- Yes, on Premium. Invite a co-parent by email; both accounts see the same children, the same approvals queue, and the same reward store β in real time.
- Where are the exact numbers β XP multipliers, drop rates?
- Signed-in parents see the full numeric rulebook at /parent/wiki. We keep the fine-grained coefficients behind the login to respect the balance work that goes into them.
- Is my family's data safe?
- Yes. We never share children's data with advertisers, and the free plan has no ads at all. Full details are in our privacy policy.
